Rhetorical Act Chapter 1

Rhetorical Act Chapter 1 defines what rhetoric is and why it is important to language arts. The roots of rhetoric go all the way back to ancient Greece when the great minds of philosophy were at work. A lot of people listened to Aristotle because of his social popularity, and he used quite a lot of rhetoric to persuade and change society's way of thinking. Rhetoric allowed him to convince people of other beliefs to understand his side of an argument or grasp his ideas and make sense of them. The chapter also explained that when used properly, rhetoric allows a speaker to state their beliefs and stand behind it with deductive reasoning and logic.
