Rhetorical Act Chapter 2

Chapter 2 introduced ethos, logos, and pathos and how they are used to shift another person's stance on a subject. Logos uses logical reasoning to break down an argument or build up an alternate theory that makes sense to the speaker and the audience. Ethos is the reliability of the speaker or the sources used to back up an argument. For example, when the president speaks, many Americans trust in what he has to say because of his position in our government. Pathos is the appeal to emotion and it taps into the feelings of the listener to make them feel a certain way in hopes their feelings guide them to a new way of thinking.
